We will start on Monday April 12 at the Troop meeting, with the health and safety, and local rules applied to cycling. The badge requires two rides of ten miles, two rides of fifteen miles, two rides of twentyfive miles and one ride of fifty miles. The plan is to do the shorter rides mostly on the trail system and the fifty mile ride during the Tulsa Tough bicycle event in early June.

Swim Test and Medical Forms

Posted on Apr 12 2010 - 7:15pm

Just a quick reminder that all scouts and scouters need to have a current BSA swim test before the Family Campout at Lippe Ranch at Grand Lake on the weekend of May 7-9 and for Summer Camp (June 13-19).  It must be renewed every year.  You will need to show proof of a current BSA Swim Test before the family campout weekend in order to get in the water or on a boat.  This is also true for parents and siblings. Miller Swim School and the YWCA/YMCA do these tests for about $5 a person.  We will try to set something up for the Troop at one or more of these places.  If anyone sets up a swim test, please spread the word. Please forward any swim tests results to Mr Stapleton, He needs copies, with the signature of the person who administered the test, for summer camp.

If you are going to summer camp, but not to Lippe, you may take the swim test at Camp Hale.

All scouts and scouters are required to have the new Annual Health and Medical Record on file. This is a new form, and any other BSA medical form is considered to have expired. You will not be allowed to go to Summer Camp with out this form. (Click HERE to Download)

Adult Training

Posted on Apr 6 2010 - 4:39pm

Every Scout Deserves a TRAINED Leader.

Adult Leaders in the BSA need to take training so that they are aware of the BSA's policies regarding safety and "Two Deep Leadership". The "Youth Protection Training" and "Boy Scout Leader Fast Start" should be taken by all Scouters that participate in scouting events. Both these courses are offered online.

Click HERE for the BSA online training. You will need to register on the BSA website and will need your BSA ID Number. If you do not have a BSA ID card and have filled out and turned in an application, the Scout Center can provide you with your ID Number (743-6125)

When a training course is completed, you will recieve a card. (you must print your own for the online training) Please forward a copy to Mr Stapleton so that it can be entered in Troopmaster. You can email the URL (web address) of the certificate for online training.

Many activities require adult leaders with specific training (Safe Swim, Safety Afloat, etc) Many of these courses are also offered online.  If the we do not have enough leaders with the appropriate training for an event, we will have to cancel said event.

If you have completed any BSA training or are have up-to-date CPR certification, please make sure that it is listed in our records, as it makes planning campout easier when we know who is trained for what.

Scouters attending Summer Camp need to enroll in any of the training courses offered that they have not already taken. As the Troop pays the fee for Scouters at Summer Camp, they should "Repay" the Troop by taking training courses.

Hi this is the troop historian and I was wondering if anyone could send me pictures for the scrapbook that I am making.  I would like pictures from the devil’s den campout, the centennial dinner, the Sequoyah state park campout, and the campout at the Haskin’s ranch.  Thank You.
